Description:
‘Mutations’ is the annual public exhibition of M.Arch. studio and thesis works done as part of the Master’s Program in Urban Design, Pillai College of Architecture (PiCA). ‘Mutations 2019’ was hosted in the college campus at Panvel. It was a 4 day public event comprising of the exhibition, lectures and workshop.
Day 1: 4th October, 2019
Inaugural Ceremony:
The inaugural ceremony was attended by the academic and professional fraternity of PiCA and other institutions of Mumbai. Prof. Richa Sharma, Program Coordinator and faculty welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries and guests. She also introduced the event and briefed about the lecture and workshop lineup in addition to the exhibition. The ceremony was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Shri. Ramesh Dengle, Chief Architect and Planner CIDCO who shared his experience of being in the profession of Urban Design. Visiting faculty Ar. Pallavi Kulkarni threw light on the challenges and opportunities that Urban Design affords. Principal Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar also congratulated the entire master’s program team of faculty and students on the event.
Publication Release:
Following this the Publications of the Thesis and Studio Compendiums of the M. Arch. Urban Design Program were released at the hand of all the guests, publication team and alumni.

The event concluded on 7th October 2019 with Prof. Richa Sharma giving the vote of thanks.

Exhibition Inauguration (4th October, 2019):
The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri. Ramesh Dengle and Dr. Vasudevan Pillai, Founder and CEO Patron of Pillai Group of Institutions and Mahatma Education Society and other members of the management too joined in to view the exhibition.

The exhibition witnessed viewing from the professional fraternity as well as members of the Management on 5th October, 2019.

The on-going exhibition also witnessed public viewing.

The on-going exhibition also witnessed public viewing along with a detailed interaction with the guest speakers. The exhibition and event closed in the evening of day 4.

Urban Sociologist and Theorist, Dr. Binti Singh delivered a talk on ‘Investigating and Theorising the Urban – I’
Professor and Dean of Master’s Program at KRVIA, Prof. Manoj Parmar concluded the talk on ‘Investigating and Theorising the Urban – II’
Day 4: 7th October, 2019
Lecture: ‘It’s Time for Urban Design’
Urban Designer and Architect, Creative Writer and Educator, Ar. Harshad Bhatia delivered the closing talk on ‘It’s Time for Urban Design’
Workshop
Day 3: 6th October, 2019
Workshop – ‘Urban Complexities – Concepts and Methods’
The third day had a day long Workshop conducted by Dr. Akshay Patil and Dr. Amit Deshmukh, faculty members from VNIT, Nagpur on ‘Urban Complexities – Concepts and Methods’. The workshop was attended by students, alumni and professionals.
Day 4: 7th October, 2019
Workshop – ‘Urban Complexities – Concepts and Methods’
The workshop on ‘Urban Complexities – Concepts and Methods’ by Dr. Akshay Patil and Dr. Amit Deshmukh, faculty members from VNIT, Nagpur concluded on the fourth day with a hands on training.
All the participants were awarded Certificates of Participation.
